Alan Maley has been involved with English language teaching for 45 years. He worked for the British Council from 1962-1988, as English Language Officer in Jugoslavia, Ghana, Italy, France and China, and as Regional Director, South India (Madras).  He resigned from the British Council to become Director-General of the Bell Educational Trust in Cambridge (1988-93) and went on to become Senior Fellow at the National University of Singapore (1993-98).  In 1999, he set up the Masters' programme in ELT at Assumption University, Bangkok, where he stayed till 2004.  He is currently Visiting Professor, Leeds Metropolitan University, and continues with freelance writing and consultancy work, especially in Asia.  He has published widely and was Series Editor for the Oxford Resource Books for Teachers from 1984-2009.

George Pickering is a freelance coach, consultant and trainer and has made presentations in over 40 different countries throughout the world. He is the senior tutor on the English UK Diploma in Language Teaching Management and a tutor on the Cambridge ESOL accredited International Diploma in Language Teaching Management. George is an inspector of language schools for the British Council in the UK (Accreditation UK). George was the treasurer of IATEFL (International Association of Teachers of English as a Foreign Language) for six years and is the co-ordinator of the ELT Management SIG (Special Interest Group). George has an MA in Applied Linguistics and is a Master Practitioner and certified trainer in NLP. He lives with his pet camel and monkey in Ramsgate, England.

Marek graduated from Warsaw University with an MA in English and has now taught English as a foreign language mostly to adult students for about 30 years. As a teacher he has taken special interest in examination classes and practical phonetics. He used to work as DoS for a well known language school in Warsaw and taught ELT methodology to post-graduate students at Wyższa Szkoła im. Pawła Włodkowica for a year only to find genuine language classroom experience far more rewarding. He has also cooperated with British ELT publishers by reporting on drafts of coursebooks and freelanced as a presenter at conferences for TEFL teachers. For well over a decade, Marek acted as an oral English language examiner at the British Council in Warsaw before taking a new challenge of representing City & Guilds – a leading UK and international awarding body, a job he has been performing in Poland for over two years now.

Jacky Newbrook is a teacher, teacher trainer and ELT author. She has been teaching English for over 30 years, both in the UK and abroad, and has travelled extensively giving seminars and presentations on a wide range of issues in ELT. She has been running training courses for overseas teachers for many years; she is particularly interested in independent learning, and has acted as consultant for schools and universities setting up self access centres. Wojciech Graniczewski

Is one of the founders of the Polish Association of Standards in Language Education. He is founder and director of the Bell Institute for English Language Studies in Krakow and ELT Management lecturer at The Gama-Bell Teacher Training College. He is also scriptwriter and director of English language television series such as "Windy Lifts", "Ups & Downs" "Lippy & Messy" and a serial for teenagers "The Best Guest Show" produced by the Polish public television, and broadcast nationwide on TVP - Channel One. Since April 2008 Wojciech has been Chair of the Marketing Sub-Committe of EAQUALS, the European Association for Quality Language Services.
